Tune in. Staff picks of the week!
Here at Yellow 108, we love great music about as much as love making awesome hats (thats a lot by the way). Music is an intricate part of everything we do at Yellow 108, from jamming out in the office to being involved with fantastic music festivals. We decided that we couldn’t keep all this great music to our selves, therefor here are the Yellow 108 staff picks of the week.
L.L.- Dark Dark Dark - A great unique folky sound from Minneapolis. Thanks M.W.
Jody - Little Dragon - This Swedish electro pop band has a new album called Ritual Union.
Colin - Brian Eno - Known to many as the father of ambient music, his 40+ year career has span everything from music scores to producing bands like the Talking Heads. Colin particularly likes his early solo works.
Bret - Explosions in the Sky - Their melodic instrumentals void of vocals invoke a whole assortment of emotions. They will be playing at the FYF fest (September 3), that we will also be vending at.
We have two awesome upcoming music focused events that we are participating in, Sunset Junction and the FYF fest. If you can’t get enough live music and your in LA the next 2 weekends, these are the spots to be.
The Sunset Junction music festival and street fair has grown over the past 31 years to become a major fixture of the LA music scene. This fest is one of the best places to discover up and coming bands. Basically Sunset Junction has good music matched with an eclectic crowd set in a block party atmosphere. Of all the bands playing this event the ones that we are the most exited to see are The Belle Brigade, tapes ‘n tapes, and Butthole Suffers (I’ve always wanted to see these guys live). Our booth will be on Santa Monica Blvd on the way down to the Hoover stage at the southern end of the event. Be sure not to miss this massive 2 day party and swing by our to say see what’s up.
